There are lots of ways to get involved with the Harvard College Effective Altruism student group, whether you’re completely new to the ideas of effective altruism or interested in discussing them further as part of our community.

We run programming in the fall and spring semesters, which is open to students at any Harvard school.

Fellowships are selective, application-only semester-long programs where a group of students, from any Harvard school, meet over a meal to discuss some of the most important ideas of our time. Fellowship applications open in January for Spring and will re-open in September for Fall cohorts.

The Precipice Fellowship

Harvard EA runs reading groups on The Precipice, a recently-released book about existential risk and the future of humanity by Oxford University philosopher Toby Ord, along with other supplementary materials about existential risks.

How do we do good, better? Discuss the defining problems of our time, including topics in psychology, philosophy, economics, and technology.

HCEA also hosts open events, such as weekly dinners with different themes or topics, speaker events, weekend retreats, and travel to conferences across the US and Europe.

We host weekly socials that are open to all affiliates (Harvard and Interuniversity). These socials happen every Saturday @ 7pm (with effective altruists from around 10 universities regularly attending). Join our mailing list for the location details.
